Playgrounds are great recreational areas for children to blow off some steam and release pent-up energy. Children develop social skills and get great exercise while playing with other youngsters on various pieces of equipment. Swing sets in particular are great features that, alone, could provide a child with entertainment for hours.
However, a poorly maintained or built swing set can turn a day of joy into a tragic visit to a hospital or other medical treatment facility. It is extremely important that parents and other supervisors are aware of the dangers associated with swings so that they can take the right precautions to safeguard their children.
Swing sets, when not properly manufactured, constructed, or maintained, can be extremely dangerous. If a child falls off a swing while high in the air, he or she could sustain very serious injuries. In the worst cases, the harm done may be fatal. The following are scenarios that may pose dangers to playing children:
Children should be provided with safe playground features and adequate supervision to protect them from the dangers that may arise while engaged in activities in these recreational areas. If your child has suffered a swing set injury due to one of the above forms of negligence, then you may have the right to claim compensation.
If your child has suffered a swing set injury because of negligent supervision, poor maintenance, or a product defect, then you have the right to demand justice from the responsible party.
