A 20-year-old man from North Las Vegas was arrested and charged with murdering his 1-year-old daughter.

Emergency workers were called to the man’s house after a report that the girl was no longer breathing. Police intervened when suspicions arose over the girl’s injuries. The injuries to the child included broken ribs, a broken clavicle, and cerebral bleeding.

According to the father, he was playing roughly with his daughter with a cotton pillow when she began crying and fell limp. At this point, the father shook the child and poured water on her in an attempt to revive her. With this failing, he called for help. In his defense, he stated that he is more aggressive when playing with his children because he does not want them to be pushed over or taken advantage of when they grow older. After telling police about the different games he would play with his daughter, he was arrested on a count of child abuse and substantial bodily harm. After the girl died on Tuesday, those charges were increased to murder by child abuse.
