A man from Williamston was killed in a Las Vegas car accident Friday.

According to officials with the Las Vegas Police department, 62 year-old Jon Meredith, of Williamston, was killed in a taxi crash on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas shortly after 12:00 p.m. Friday. Police say Meredith was in the back seat of a taxi, which had stopped on the interstate due to a traffic backup caused by another accident. The taxi was struck from behind by a Dodge Stratus, which caught fire after the impact.

Meredith was transported by ambulance to University of Nevada Las Vegas Medical Center following the crash. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Tiffany Funeral Home in Lansing is handling funeral arrangements. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Sunday at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing.
