According to officials with the Nevada Highway PAtrol, a the accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. in the westbound lane of Russell Road, just south of the Las Vegas Strip. Police say a Toyota Camry was traveling east in the westbound lanes and collided with a Toyota Scion at the Interstate 15 overpass.

The two drivers were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center. The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead later Thursday morning.

A section of the road was shut down for several hours while police investigated the accident.

According to officials with the Las Vegas Metro Police Information Office, the accident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. Monday near the intersection of East Bonanza Road and North Christy Lane. Police say a 27 year-old man was traveling east on Bonanza Road in a 2010 Dodge Charger when he lost control of the vehicle. As the car approached North Christy Lane, it veered off the roadway.

The vehicle traveled north through two front yards of residences before striking a chain-link fence, bust stop sign, tree, and a second chain-link fence, police say.

The driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. His identity has not been released.

The accident remains under investigation. No other vehicles were involved.

According to Harris County District Court documents, Rose Williams filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Steven and Amanda Spielman. The lawsuit claims that the Spielmans’ dog, Jax, bit her hand while she was working in her garden. The filing claims Williams was working in her garden in December 2008 when the 69-pound hound mix bit her on her hand causing “serious and debilitating physical injuries.”

Williams claims the Spielmans are directly responsible because of their negligent handling of the dog, allowing the animal to come in direct contact with her.

The lawsuit is seeking damages for lost past wages, physical pain, scarring, and future medical care. She is also asking the court of pre and post-judgement interest.

According to officials with the Clark County Coroner’s Office, 26 year-old Herman Morales died from multiple injuries suffered in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the accident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. on the Paradise/Maryland interconnect at Woodwinds Way, just west of Interstate 215 between Robindale Road and Windmill Lane. According to the accident report, a 2004 Nissan Maxima was heading south on the interconnect in the far right lane when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway and struck the west curb before hitting a block wall, police say.

The driver, 24 year-old Ricardo Orozco-Garcia, was transported by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He is facing one count of DUI resulting in death.

According to Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski, the accident occurred about a block form Centennial High School in northwest Las Vegas. Three people in a small car were injured after a crash involving a school bus filled with students from the high school, Szymanski said. None of the passengers aboard the full-sized school bus were seriously injured, police say.

The three injured people were trapped in the car after the crash. Firefighters worked to extricate the victims from the vehicle. All three occupants were removed by 6:40 a.m. The victims were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Las Vegas police interviewed students on the bus while firefighters worked to clear the scene.

A spokesman for the Clark County School District says school officials are investigating the crash.

The lawsuit was filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court by Shea Johnson, of Louisville. Johnson claims a German shepherd dog, which was laying on the floor of the cabin in front of its owner, attacked her without reason. Court documents say Johnson was not “teasing, tormenting, or abusing the German shepherd,” when the animal bit her face. Johnson apparently sustained “permanent injuries and impairments,” and had to undergo medical treatment after the attack.

The personal injury lawsuit names Louisville International Airport, the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, Atlantic Southeast, Delta and Skywest Airlines as defendants. The lawsuit contends the defendants failed to provide a safe atmosphere for Johnson, as the German Shepherd was “improperly allowed to board the flight.” The lawsuit says: “The German shepherd was not a service animal for mobility, hearing, or visual disability. The German shepherd was not in an animal carrier and was not stowed under the seat.”

According to Orleans Parish District Court documents, Sullivan Francis claims his wife, Sharon, was injured while shopping at the Wal-Mart on Behrman Place in New Orleans in October 2009. The lawsuit claims Francis was walking near the store’s vision center when she slipped on a substance and fell. Sullivan contends that smashed grapes are what caused his wife to slip.

Sharon Francis suffered serious and disabling injuries in the fall, according to the lawsuit. Sullivan claims she is no longer able to provide him companionship.

The lawsuit accuses Wal-Mart Louisiana of negligence, saying employees knew there was a slippery substance on the floor but failed to remove it, keep customer from walking on it, or warn shoppers of the danger.

Francis is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for loss of consortium and society with his wife.

The lawsuit was filed by passenger Kei Meada Friday in U.S. Federal court in Salt Lake City. Maeda was among 14 tourists in the tour vehicle when it crashed near Cedar City August 9 during a trip from Las Vegas to Bryce Canyon National Park. Maeda has suffered incomplete quadriplegia since the crash.

The lawsuit contends van driver Yasushi Mikuni had THC in his system, which indicates marijuana use, when he fell asleep at the wheel. Investigators say Mikuni was not impaired at the time of the accident.

Mikuni has been charged with negligent driving under the influence. The tour operator has not been charged.

According to the Las Vegas Police Department crash report, 22 year-old Geno Borelli and 22 year-old Robert Cahalan were killed in the accident.

Police say the collision occurred shortly before noon on Decatur Boulevard between Lone Mountain Road and La Madre Way in the northwest valley. Authorities say a 2004 Lincoln aviator was northbound when it crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a school bus that was headed south.

The driver of the school bus, 40 year-old Cedric Doolittle, and a passenger, 63 year-old Betty Price, suffered moderate injuries in the accident, police say.

Police spokesman Jacinto Rivera say the driver of the sport utility vehicle was pronounced dead at the University Medical Center. The SUV passenger died at the scene. It is unclear which man was driving the vehicle.

The company recalled various models of toddler tricycles, inflatable balls, high chairs, and Little People Wheelies toys. Some of the products, which were sold as far back as 1997, have been redesigned to address risks. Fisher-Price general manager Kevin Curran said, in a statement, the company goes beyond industry regulations for safety and “takes additional steps to constantly gather and review feedback about how our products are doing in real homes. We analyze this information to see if patterns are developing that could indicate a product performance or other type of issue.”

The voluntary recall notice states that Fisher-Price and the Consumer Product-Safety Commission are aware of 80 incidents of injury caused by the toys, including six tricycle incidents involving young girls require medical attention as a result of a design flaw. The recall notice does not specify the injuries, but refers to a risk of “severe injury, including genital bleeding.”
