Two people were injured in a Las Vegas car accident Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials with the Metro Police, the accident occurred between Jones and Decatur Boulevard as 26 year-old Aderaw Melaku was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry northbound on Solteros Street and attempting to make a left turn onto Flamingo Road. A 2008 Infiniti G37s, driven by 48 year-old Tracy Kruzan, was headed eastbound in the center lane of Flamingo road and collided with the left side of Melaku’s vehicle.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center for treatment. Kruzan suffered minor injuries, and Melaku was admitted with serious injuries, police say.

The accident remains under investigation.

Police are investigating a Las Vegas accident in which three people, including an infant, were struck by a car.

According to Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Marcus Martin, the accident occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m. in the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Lamont Street, near Charleston and Nellis boulevards in the eastern part of the valley. Police say  a 2004 Chevrolet Beretta struck the three people as they entered the crosswalk.

All three victims were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions are not known.

There is no indication that the accident was a hit-and-run. It is unknown if the driver of the Beretta ran a red light, or will face charges in the accident.

An accident involving a tractor-trailer brought traffic to a standstill Tuesday in the southbound lanes of U.S. 95.

According to officials with the Nevada Highway Patrol, a semi-truck struck the median shortly after 1:00 p.m. on U.S. 95 between Tropicana Avenue and Flamingo Road. Police say there were no other vehicles involved in the crash, and only the truck driver was injured.

The driver was transported, by ambulance, to an area hospital for treatment. Police could not comment on the nature or extent of the man’s injuries. His identity has not been released.

The crash forced Nevada Highway Patrol troopers to close two lanes of the highway around 1:00 p.m while response crews worked to clean up the scene of the crash. The road was cleared less than an hour later.

A man from Williamston was killed in a Las Vegas car accident Friday.

According to officials with the Las Vegas Police department, 62 year-old Jon Meredith, of Williamston, was killed in a taxi crash on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas shortly after 12:00 p.m. Friday. Police say Meredith was in the back seat of a taxi, which had stopped on the interstate due to a traffic backup caused by another accident. The taxi was struck from behind by a Dodge Stratus, which caught fire after the impact.

Meredith was transported by ambulance to University of Nevada Las Vegas Medical Center following the crash. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Tiffany Funeral Home in Lansing is handling funeral arrangements. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Sunday at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing.

One person was killed and five others injured in a a Las Vegas car accident Monday evening.

According to officials with the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, a 79 year-old man from Barstow was pronounced dead at the scene of a car accident on eastbound 40 near Kelbaker Road. Las Vegas police say the accident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday when the back tire of a sport utility vehicle lost its tread, causing the driver to lose control and swerve off the roadway. The vehicle rolled several times.

Paramedics transported the driver and three passengers to Colorado River Medical Center in Needles for treatment. A woman riding in the vehicle was flown to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment.

The identities of those involved have not been released.
