Do I have to accept the settlement I have been offered?

It is your decision as to whether or not you wish to go to court over a legal issue. In many cases, the party at fault will try to avoid the litigation process by offering an out-of-court settlement. Sometimes, however, the proposed amount is not enough to cover the damages and suffering that the injured party has endured. If you feel as though the settlement amount offered to you is too low, then you have the right to turn it down.
